It’s A Pluming Hey Chick Card!

Take a look at the unique card front on this pluming hey, chick! card shared by Darla Olson at inkheaven

Take a look at the unique card front on this pluming Hey, Chick! card.

This unique card with Hey, Chick! was created by fellow demo, Maria Pobre.

It’s no secret that I love this chick with the crazy plume in the Hey, Chick! Sale-A-Bration stamp set so it was pretty easy for me to fall in love with this card! It doesn’t hurt that she used Watermelon Wonder, either. I love that color and will hate to lose it!

This card front is unique and adds interest to the card. The card opens up by lifting up from the bottom. The focal point is attached to the flap at the top and the bottom is attached to the focal point which allows the inside of the card to peek through to the front and be part of the layered look adding a little more depth without extra thickness. Very nice!

Hooray In Dapper Denim Reverse Words

Stampin' Up! Reverse Words looks fabulous in Dapper Denim ink shared by Darla Olson at inkheaven

Look at how fantastic Reverse Words looks in Dapper Denim!

When I first break open a stamp set, I don’t always create a card right away. Sometimes, I like to just “warm up” to the stamp set. Many times my warm ups end up creating inspiration for my cards. Warm ups are a fun way to get familiar with your stamps and not feel any pressure to create a card.
When my 2nd release Sale-A-Bration order came I had intended to come up with a card or two for my FB Live but as luck would have it, I was otherwise occupied and did not have time to prepare one. So, as unnerving as it was for me, I decided to do a warm up on FB Live! It ended up being kind of fun once I got going! This card ended up as a result of my warm up that night! You can watch that video here:

What I Can’t Live Without – RemARKable Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop

Darla at inkheaven in the can't live without remarkable sale-a-bration blog hop

I’ve been hexed by the Hexagons Dynamic Embossing Folder!

Welcome to our RemARKable Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop featuring our “Can’t Live Withouts!”

Who knew a geometric shape could be so bewitching? When I saw the Hexagons Dynamic Embossing Folder I knew I had to have it just because I had been so enthralled with the Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder in the Holiday Catalog. However, as much fun as the Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder was, it just didn’t have the versatility of the Hexagons Dynamic Embossing Folder! Here is a list of just a few things you can create with this folder:

  • Chicken Wire
  • Honeycomb
  • Shiny Metal (Silver Foil Paper – think tool box)
  • Tile (floors or walls)
  • Cement Blocks (think walkways, patios, driveways)

I’m sure that there are many more applications that I have not thought of yet! For my sample today, I am showing you how it looks like honeycomb! This cute bag will hold the make and takes for the happy stampers at my Open House events in March!

Building A Thank You Card For The Guys

A fabulous thank you card for the guys created with the stampinup nailed it bundle shared by Darla Olson at inkheaven

A fabulous thank you card for the guys created with the Stampin’ Up! Nailed It Bundle.

This thank you card is a swap built by fellow demo, Phyllis Strickland.
She pretty much utilized most of the items in the Urban Underground Suite workroom to build this fabulous card. She added a pop of red to the Urban Underground color scheme which really makes the focal point stand out. It’s really quite stunning (in a masculine kind of way, of course!) Sometimes, building a thank you card for the guys can be daunting. But Phyllis knocked it out of the ball park using the Nailed It Bundle and Urban Underground suite of products.

Beautiful You Reflection

This card created with Stampin' Up! Beautiful You has a reflection! Shared by Darla Olson at inkheaven

This card has a beautiful reflection!

I have another jaw dropping swap share for you today. This gorgeous card was created by fellow demo, Nancy Endwright.
I have to tell you that the reflection created with the reverse image, window sheet and silver foil paper looks incredibly real. This was one of those swaps that keeps words tumbling out of your mouth after you open the envelope: WOW! Would you look at that? What a unique idea! How cool is that? I could go on, but you get the idea!

Do You Have An Incredible Everyday Hero In Your Life?

Here is a fun card for the incredible everyday hero in your life shared by Darla Olson at inkheaven

Here is a fun card for the incredible everyday hero in your life.

I love swapping with other demonstrators. Let’s face it, we look at everything through our own filters, which can be very limiting! Take my stamping filters for instance: nature, flora, sentiments, these things make up the bulk of my stamping collection! Then along comes an amazing swap card like this one created by fellow demo, Kendra Richardson and I have to stop and examine how I ran this stamp set through my filters. To be honest, I think my filters didn’t even put it on my radar screen! So, bad, I know! I can honestly say I know several people who truly are incredible. I know quite a few moms who are raising children with special needs. They are amazing everyday heroes who, for the most part, go unnoticed in our world. They, themselves, do not consider themselves heroes, and yet there they are, everyday, fighting battles that many of us cannot even imagine. I think of the pressures in my life that cause me to buckle and I am, well, humbled, to say the least. Yes, this swap card changed my perspective and stood me on my head. Even if you don’t use the Everday Hero stamp set, I hope you will join me in remembering an everyday hero in your life today.

Do You Dream of Romantic Mediterranean Moments?

This beautiful card depicts a romantic, Mediterranean Moment and has been shared by Darla Olson at inkheaven

This beautiful card depicts a romantic, Mediterranean Moment and has me dreaming of one!

This dreamy card is a swap card created by fellow demo, Anita Watson.
I have to confess that as pretty as the Mediterranean Moments stamp set is, all I could think of when I saw it was, “Wow, that’s a lot of coloring!”
Most of my stampin’ friends know that a lot of detailed coloring is not my thing! However, Anita managed to pull off this fabulous card with just a wee bit of watercoloring, changing my perspective just a bit! Plus, she pulled in the Brick Wall embossing folder, which is perfect! I know that the sentiment points to Valentine’s Day, but to be honest, this card has the potential to be so much more than a Valentine’s Day card. Don’t you agree?

Avant Garden Circle of Happiness Card

Stampin' Up's Avant Garden Create a Circle of Happiness shared by Darla Olson at inkheaven

Avant Garden Flowers Create a Circle of Happiness.

This pretty card was created by fellow demo, Kendra Richardson. The florals in this set are so pretty and I really like her color scheme. Her flowers are arranged in a circle which immediately made me think of a circle of happiness!
Being around my stampin’ friends is one of my happy places. I love being with them, stamping, laughing, and having a good time! The pretty Avant Garden set is a Sale-A-Bration set, which means you can get it for FREE! To learn more about Sale-A-Bration, click here.

Custom Tee Birthday Boy Card

Birthday Boy Card created with Stampin' Up! Custom Tee Bundle and Urban Underground shared by Darla Olson at inkheaven

This Custom Tee Birthday Boy Card is Only One Reason to Own the Custom Tee Bundle!

This fabulous swap card created by fellow demo, Susan Barron confirmed two things for me; purchasing the Custom Tee Bundle and the awesome suite of Urban Underground products were very good choices!
I love that the Custom Tee and Nailed It Bundles are so different and unique. I have a tendency to get stuck in a floral rut!
This is a great card and I intend to make a few just like it!

Hope Tomorrow Finds You Feeling Better

Feeling better card created with Stylish Stems Framelits

Hello Stampin’ Friends! I am excited to be highlighted in Kylie’s International Stampin’ Up! Blog Highlights, again! You will be able to VOTE for my project. The top ten winners will get to be a part of an international blog hop, so please VOTE for my project! I would love to be a part of this special blog hop!

Our theme for this highlight is Get Well Soon! This theme worked out perfectly for me as I have a special stampin’ friend who has been ill and had surgery recently. I really needed a get well card! This card was quick and easy (my favorite kind) and I plan to make up a few to have some ready for the next time (even though I’m hoping I don’t have a next time! I really don’t like for my friends and family to not be well.)

Hope tomorrow finds you feeling better card created with Stampin' Up! Stylish Stems, vote for Darla Olson at inkheaven

While pondering ideas for my get well card, I took a visual stroll through my supplies and this pretty sheet of butterflies from the Falling In Love DSP caught my eye.

Being a nature lover, and quite fond of sunny days, I couldn’t think of anything more cheerful than flowers surrounded by masses of beautiful butterflies, so that settled it!

I also knew that the easiest way to achieve that look would be to use the new Stylish Stems Framelits Dies as their special design would allow me to die cut the flowers right into the paper, immediately surrounding them with butterflies!

I took another visual stroll and the sentiment, “Hope Tomorrow Finds You Feeling Better,” from the My Hero stamp set caught my eye. Perfect! I have to put a plug in here for this very special set! When you purchase this set, Stampin’ Up! donates $3 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, a very worthy cause! I can’t think of a more worthwhile purchase to add to your crafting supplies!

I finally landed on using a banner from the Bunch of Banners Framelits for the sentiment. To help the sentiment “pop” just a little more and not be obscured by the butterflies, I layered it over another banner cut from Sweet Sugarplum card stock and then accented it with a Falling In Love Embellishment. The floral jewel is pretty and adds a bit of sparkle. The only thing that I did not add (only because I discovered that all three of my tubes where empty, gasp!) was a bit of Clear Wink of Stella to the flower petals.

My goal was to not only provide you with a visually pretty card, but to also make it a card that could be easily duplicated. If you think that I have presented a visually pretty card that can be easily duplicated please go VOTE for me!

Lift Me Up Puts Love In The Air For Valentine’s Day

Handmade card created with Stampin' Up! Lift Me Up Bundle shared by Darla Olson at inkheaven

Stampin’ Up! Lift Me Up Bundle puts love in the air!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

This was a fun card to put together. The different levels of layer and texture give it great visual interest and except for placing the balloon basket, very easy! (And that really wasn’t hard, it just required a few extra steps.)
It is difficult to see in the photo but the balloon is cut out of the Real Red and recessed into the Whisper White. The clouds add another dimension as they are cut out with the dies and layered on top of the card. And, with the Falling Petals Folder adding “hearts” to the Real Red layer it looks great!
To get the basket placed, I lightly tacked down my Real Red layer and lightly penciled in where the basket needed to be stamped. Then I removed the Real Red layer and stamped my balloon basket over my outlined area. This is one place where photopolymer would have appealed to the lazy side of my stamping! However, I have this set in clear mount so I had to pull out my Stamp-a-ma-jig to get the proper placement (woe is me, right? I’m such an eyeball-er! ha ha). Once the basket was stamped the Real Red layer could be permanently applied to the Whisper White card base. (Note: The balloon was die cut prior to being ran through the Falling Petals folder.)
After the Real Red layer in set in place, it’s pretty easy to center the love heart in the center of the balloon.
Since the clouds are die cut and added on top those are pretty simple. I did have to stamp the sentiment on Whisper White prior to die cutting my cloud. It.Just.Fits! I layered those with glue dots. I wanted just a “little” pop-up.
Have I mentioned before how much I love the Falling Petals embossing eolder? I love how it looks like hearts and can’t wait to start playing with it more as a floral texture later. It’s been a great texture add to those Valentine Cards!
Did you know that just purchasing the Lift Me Up bundle and the Falling Petals embossing folder earns you a free Sale-A-Bration set? That alone puts my heart up in the air! Check out the fantastic Sale-A-Bration items:

Don’t forget that you can always use the layout and switch things up a bit! Different color combinations give different looks to the same layout! Check out this great switch shared by Shannon West of Stampin’ Up! It is the same card but the switch gives it an amazing look!

Sealed With Love Stitched Shapes Framed Hearts Card

Stampin' Up! Sealed With Love, Hearts Framed by Stitched Shapes Square Framelits Card shared by Darla Olson at inkheaven

Sealed With Love, Hearts Framed by Stitched Shapes Square Framelits for Valentine’s Day

This card was also a fun card that we created in my Sealed With Love class.

This card has a little bit of recessed layering which adds a little bit of interest to it. It was still an easy card. Getting the images centered can be a little tricky. We eyeballed it in class. However, if you want nothing off center even just a bit, I recommend the stamp-a-ma-jig!

Sealed With Love Pierced Layered Hearts Valentine Card

Sealed with love, arrow pierced, layered sweet and sassy hearts Valentine card shared by Darla Olson at inkheaven

Sealed With Love, Arrow Pierced, Layered Sweet & Sassy Hearts Card

This was such a fun card to make! We made this card in my Sealed With Love Valentine’s Class here in Le Mars. Looks fussy, but it was pretty easy! Mostly layering, with a wee bit of stamping! I love that narrow ribbon! Due to the demand being higher than anticipated, the Love Note Framelits that are a part of this bundle are on backorder and are not anticipated to be back in the warehouse until 10 days after Valentine’s Day! I can see why! I can’t express enough just how much fun I have had playing with this great bundle!
