“Beware is a good bat warning!”

Another convention swap with a Halloween theme that I didn’t get posted before Halloween! This card was created by Jan Reid. It has an easy layout with a great focal point (even if you don’t like bats)! I.don’t.like.bats.period. Especially when they invade my personal space! I have several bat stories…but I will spare you! lol!

“No carve pumpkins in less than 10 minutes!”

I love decorating in the Fall. I think it has to do with all the warm bursts of color in all the Fall decor and all the cute Halloween stuff. I’m not much into scary – but I do love cute! Pumpkins add stylish, creative and fun touches to Fall decorating. Some folks carve some really creative Jack-o-lanterns! I remember loving the pumpkin carving process when I was a kid. And I remember loving the process with my kids. I also remember having fun doing it with my grand kids when they lived close. Carving them by myself? Not.so.slimey.much. So, it really wasn’t the pumpkin carving as much as it was time spent doing something with my family that made the happy memory! Last year, just for fun, my pumpkins were canned…literally! lol! This year I purchased a couple of small pumpkins and contemplated what to do with them. I finally decided on giving them faces with our Glimmer brads. This was easy and fun! And…it took less than 10 minutes! I used a retired ribbon; but any green ribbon will do! I considered the burlap ribbon since burlap is so popular right now. However, these are my “outdoor” pumpkins and I didn’t think the burlap would be seen from the street as well. My glimmer brads will be able to be reused, too. No waste! I used the paper piercing and a small hammer to make the holes and then just popped the brads right into the holes! It was just too easy and no mess! And they are cute!

“Still doing Dahlias.”

Another Regarding Dahlias convention swap to share with you! This swap was created by Bonnie Jaskie. I have dubbed this color combo as interesting as I am undecided as to whether or not I like the color combo! I keep being drawn to the card though so I am leaning towards “like.” Do you ever have this happen to you, or am I the only one? Even if you don’t like the color combo the layout itself is wonderful and easy enough to replicate for a fantastic “thank you” card! Did you know that Dahlias have a symbolic meaning from the Victorian era ? When given as a gift, the dahlia flower expresses sentiments of dignity and elegance. “Dahlias and dancing butterflies.”

I received this pretty card in a convention swap from Traci R. Khan. I love the color combo! Just looking at this card gives me visions of fields of colorful Dahlias swaying in a gentle breeze with dancing butterflies! I also like how she used 1 small rhinestone and 1 larger rhinestone on the Bitty Butterflies for their body versus using 3 small rhinestones. “Hello, You With a Dahlia in Blue.”

I received this card in a convention swap. Love, love, love! Simple and wow! There is no identifying info on the back of the card, so if this is your creation let me know and I will update this post to give you credit! Did you know that with all the different varieties of Dahlias in the world there really isn’t a blue Dahlia? A blue Dahlia has never been produced! There are a few lavender Dahlias that have a “hint” of blue. Dahlias are breathtakingly beautiful and come in every color imaginable! “Happy flowers in disguise!”

I was totally captivated by this convention swap card stamped by Liz (last name unreadable). I loved the color combo and the layout but for the life of me I could not identify the stamp set immediately! When I finally identified it, I groaned audibly. I had not felt compelled to get this hostess stamp set, Happy Flowers, until that moment! Don’t you just hate that when it happens to you! It is now on my wish list. I guess when I saw the name of the set…it limited my creativity on some level to look beyond flowers and see what else was there! Take for instance the image stamped in Smokey Slate; I am now looking at that image and seeing a gorgeous bird! Inked with a marker one could eliminate the tail feathers completely and just have the wings. Each element of this stamp set is conducive to creating some really fabulous backgrounds! Even the flower stem if colored with a marker would make a great bird in flight!

“Spring or Fall?”

I am always torn between Spring and Fall when it comes to favorite seasons! I look forward to Spring because Iowa Winters can be long, cold, and snowy! I love the bright green of spring! However, Fall is a season that is full of warm bursts of bright colors that take the chill out of the air on sunny days! We went to the apple orchards in Gays Mills, WI this weekend and the trees are turning! The weather this week will be perfect for creating a brilliant display on the bluffs! The bluffs in Marquette, IA were a perfect blend of green, red, orange and gold trees nestled together up above the quaint buildings along the highway. I wish we had stopped to take a picture! I know that most people like to go enjoy the view when the leaves are at their peek…but I like them best when there is still some green. Maybe it’s because this is the part of Fall that I don’t want to ever end! The gorgeous 70 degree days with no humidity and cool nights that are perfect for sleeping! Sigh. Anyway – this little 3×3 convention swap I received is a lovely card for this time of year and easily converted into a full size card! She used Gorgeous Grunge (my new favorite go-to stamp set) and Chalk Talk…which leads me back to me being goofy. In my goofiness I am chasing around the thought, “If chalk could talk,” and then I am thinking…but it does…we write words with it all the time…and I have no idea where I am going with this! lol! I so love this quote! I enjoy a lot of things; sometimes too many things! But nothing brings me as much pleasure as time spent with people that I love! I recently became a great aunt and I could sit for hours on end looking at my adorable great niece. She makes my heart smile! When I go to church on Sundays and my grandchildren immediately come over and say, “hello grandma,” that makes my heart smile! Worshiping my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and having my soul refreshed makes my heart smile! These are just a few of the best things in my life!

My favorite thing about this convention swap card is how Julie Bliven used the Washi Tape to create a background to stamp her focal point image on! The color combo is also pulled from the Washi Tape; clever!

I love the Chalk Talk set and the Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper so it is only natural that I would love this card!
