This old grandma is somehow in the middle of a baby boom! My facebook news feed is full of pictures of adorable, cute babies! I love it! Babies make me smile! Babies are fresh, curious, and great explorers! There is nothing better than holding a sleeping newborn and gazing at them for hours! I just love this little 3×3 card; the little fishbowl is so cute! I received this card in a convention swap and I have no idea who the creator is but her little details really made this card! (If it is yours; let me know and I will update this blog post to give you credit!) I love the chunky gold glitter in the treasure chest it adds texture and pulls your eye right to the chest which might otherwise be overlooked! The three little flowers with rhinestones anchor the greeting and pull the color combo tightly together. Those two things alone make it a stand out card! The textured background and ribbon accent are an added bonus! My little pelican is keenly interested in these fishy friends!

I just love the little Sweetheart candies! There is something fun about seeing what word you are going to get! While most of these little paper sweethearts are wordless; they still convey a fun message of love to the recipient. This is a 3×3 card so it goes together very quickly for having so many elements! The focal point with the hearts is scored into a small tic tac toe grid for easy placement of the hearts. I received this fun little card in my convention swaps. One of my favorite uses of our framelits and dies is the ability to create using negative space in fun shapes! The heart framelits are a perfect negative space for Valentine’s Day projects. In this instance the negative space is covered with Washi Tape to make it pop! This technique makes for a quick and easy, but smashing card! I received this adorable little 3×3 card in my convention swaps. I remember Valentine’s Day as a kid. I always looked forward to it. I think because we got to spend more time being creative at school and it spilled over at home, too! We spent hours decorating shoe boxes or paper bags, making hearts and Valentine’s cards. This was great fun for a child with creative interests! Even the little boxes of store bought Valentine’s were fun; they were filled with cute little puns. I loved going through the Valentine’s that I brought home and studying them. Some were silly, some were romantic, but all of them were beautiful in their own way. I remember laboring over who would get which Valentine; wanting everyone to feel like I was their friend without making them feel uncomfortable. I don’t know if I was successful or not but I do know that I left no one out. Everyone got a card from me! Hearts a Flutter is not a new set, but it is certainly a great set for Valentine’s Day cards. Little 3×3 cards are quick and easy with this set and you can pass around some warm, light-hearted fun this Valentine’s Day! This pretty little card is a convention swap from Beth Schreiber.

I love decorating Mason jars! It doesn’t take much to pretty them up! For the guys I made a BBQ Rub. This was a new venture for me…I have never made a rub before – but it is very easy! There are tons of recipes for rubs on the web; take your pick! My labels were created in My Digital Studio. The lid label I just printed as is and cut out with a circles framelit! It was perfect! The hanging label with the ornaments was modified by adding text and cutting out with a framelit from the Apothecary framelits. I just color matched the text I added to the colors from the lid label! I was able to print 3 sets on an 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Whisper White card stock. I used a coordinating discontinued ribbon that had a more masculine look. I dressed the label up with a rhinestone and added a frosted finishes embellishment to add to the festive look. My hanging tag is attached with the new twine! Love this twine! It’s great for the holidays!

I made the girls some great smelling foot scrub and bath teas! I found the perfect Mason jars! I just love the shape and size! The only stamping involved here was the just for you tag that I put on the bath tea. It was the perfect size and look for the bath tea bag! All of the other labels were created in My Digital Studio and printed out. The jar lid label needed no modification; it was printed out as is with no modification and cut out with a circles framelit! The hanging label just has added text which is color matched to coordinate with the lid label, printed, and then cut with a framelit from the apothecary framelits. I added rhinestones and frosted finishes embellishments for a festive look. I used coordinating ruffled ribbon for a more feminine look. The hanging tag was hung with our new twine! I typed up directions for the bath tea in My Digital Studio and printed it out on copy paper. I used a digital background paper and lowered the opacity behind the text. I printed four to a sheet double sided. The directions and tea bags fit perfectly in our clear envelopes!

I made these cute little headbands for my great niece. I used some of our designer fabrics (which are a great bargain on the clearance rack right now) along with our brand new Spiral Flower Originals Die! The headbands and baby are adorable, don’t you agree?

I had so much fun dolling up my gift boxes this year! The Gift Bow die is so easy and so much fun! I anticipate that my paper stash will be dwindling at a much faster pace from now on! Believe it or not each box fully decked out only takes 1/2 sheet of 12×12 background paper! I used the Snow Flurry die to make “medallions” for the smaller boxes. For the larger boxes I used all three images with coordinating buttons and candy dots. The candy dots are current…but the background papers and buttons are all discontinued items. However, we have some great new background papers and buttons to choose from that will make any box look fantastic!

Have I mentioned that I just absolutely love the Gift Bow Die? These were so easy to make! Prior to cutting the fabric with the die I used an iron on fabric interface to fuse two pieces of fabric together to stiffen and to have all sides of the bow showing the right side of the fabric. The fabrics are our discontinued designer fabrics many of which are available at great prices on the clearance rack while supplies last! These make great gifts for little girls! GIFT BOW BIGZ L DIE Item: 129977

This year I avoided shopping…I gave gift cards along with DIY gifts and packaging for a personal touch! I will be sharing all of my projects so keep checking back! I have a couple of dies that I just love and make DIY packaging very easy! One is the Gift Bow Bigz L Die and the other is the Snow Flurry Bigz Die (which just happens to be on the clearance rack while supplies last!) I used them on both bags and boxes. I love how they turned out! I used up quite a bit of Christmas background papers that I had been hoarding for just such a purpose and it felt great to finally be using them!

“Away in a manger, no crib for a bed.”

During the Christmas season most of our focus is on one baby, unless we, or someone we know, is having one! Since we are in the season of celebrating the birth of Christ, I thought I would share the fun things I made for my great niece’s baby shower. I used My Digital Studio and the Hello Baby Ensemble Kit Digital Download. It was the easiest part of the shower! I printed all the elements out on my own printer and either cut out with coordinating punches, circle framelits, or with the paper trimmer! I had not thrown a baby shower for a long time and I was shocked at the price of all the baby shower items at the party store. I opted for plain paper plates and napkins and just dressed them up to keep the costs down. I did choose to just serve small sandwiches, chips, and cupcakes so I didn’t have to worry about dressing up the paper plate with images on printer paper being attached to the plate. The very first baby shower was not very elaborate. Three wise men attended and brought some very nice gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. By today’s standards they were pricey gifts; but they were God’s provision to take care of the Christ child in a strange land while they evaded an evil man wanting to take his life prematurely. Eventually, He gave His life for us and we sing:

Hark! the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!

There are more lyrics to the song…but the most amazing line to me is God and sinners reconciled! A joyous thing to celebrate indeed!
