Non-Traditional Christmas Colors Wow!

I love, love, love, the color combo that Jannette Santamarina used on this holiday catalog swap card! My photo doesn’t really do it justice. This card was also made using the Project Life Seasonal Snap Shot stamp set. Isn’t the stamped stitching fun? The wickedly fun fonts and the stitching images are my favorites.  It’s a little hard to see in my photo, but I like how Jannette scored around the edges of the card on the Perfect Plum. A very nice touch!

Capturing Seasonal Snapshots

Do you breeze right by the Project Life section of the catalog because you are not a scrapbooker? Because if you do, you are missing a really fun stamp set called Seasonal Snapshot. It is a Project Life stamp set because the images are sized right for use with Project Life cards…but that doesn’t mean that you can’t use them for cards! The fonts are fun and so are the images! This is a swap card that I received created by Shelly Peck.

Swapping Season’s Greetings

Swapping Season’s greetings is a tradition that seems to be going the way of the dinosaur. I find it sad that so few people take the time to send Christmas cards anymore. I sent them regularly, even before I was a card maker. It was, and still is, the one time of year where I try to remember everyone, within reason. Over the years my list has gotten smaller because those extended elderly relatives that I was making a point of including on my list have gone on to their heavenly reward. Many of them lived far away. Many of them I met only once at some type of family gathering. I’m not sure why I did it other than, for some reason, I felt it was important. Maybe it’s because I used to deliver newpapers. The elderly folks on my route(s) were avid newspaper readers. In those days, the carrier had to collect payment for the subscriptions. I spent a lot of time collecting. It’s not that getting the payment took so long…it’s more that the elderly folks invited you in. They wanted to visit. They were hospitable. They were eager to share their family with you. I learned a lot in those visits. Letters, cards, and photos were valuable treasures. They came out often. Sometimes we don’t understand the value of these small gestures to family and friends. A few years back I received a Christmas card from someone that I did not recognize. I was puzzled but opened it with eager anticipation. It was more than a Christmas card, it was also a thank you message bearing sad news. One of my husband’s Aunts had passed away. I had met her only once. Her daughter, whom I had never met, had sent me the card. It was filled with gratitude for remembering her parents, and eventually just her mom, year after year. I am not sharing this to brag. More to remind us that swapping Season’s Greetings the old fashioned way is something we should make an effort to bring back into fashion. This card is a swap card created by Janet Angi.  Normally, I share a list of products used to create each card that I share with you…but today I am just going to ask you to remember someone  by sending them a handwritten note, letter, or card. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Oh, What Fun!

This fun card bearing the message, “Merry Wishes,” is a swap card I received created by Sharon Roeder. I love the penguin! Please note that in our swaps we encouage the use of current product. The retired Modern Label punch was used on this card. I am listing the Itty Bitty Banners Framelits as a substitute for those who may not own this retired punch.

Paradise Found in Mint Macaron!

Stampin’ Up! In Colors are so in trend! You need Mint Macaron! It is a gorgeous color and coordinates so well with so many of our core colors! This is a quick and easy card (who doesn’t love those?) When I saw the Definitely Dahlia stamp I knew I had to have it. It is bold, beautiful, and large; perfect for stamping a quick card! This was a make and take at my Grand Annual Open House. I used the new Whisper White Thick Cardstock so everyone could see how sturdy it is. It’s perfect for a card like this where the layering is at the top making it a little top heavy. It stands up perfectly!

I Ride A Bling Broom!

From time to time I participate in card swaps – they are a fun way to get different ideas from other stampers – and they make for a fun snail mail day when they arrive! This fun card was created by Regina Aldrine. You can tell which broom fits me…I’ll be riding the bling broom! I love how you can use Washi Tape on the diagonal without a lot of measuring and cutting. Much easier than background paper and just as pretty! Did you know that you can change the color of our amazing Rhinestones using a Sharpie?
