Mixing it up with Flourishing Phrases

So…today I thought I would mix it up a little more with my Flourishing Phrases card and add in a a few more elements to step it up yet again. I’m not sure how I feel about it. I like it and I don’t. I am more of a plain and simple girl. This one may be just too busy for me. I have another idea rolling in my head to try tomorrow…unless it rolls right on out. Ha! Ha!

The elements I added were a couple of die cuts from the Flourish Dies, the Squares Layering Framelits, the Petal Burst Folder, and the Ruched Ribbon. If you would like to see the other two cards, you can…

Flip Flop Fun

I have to confess…I hate shoes. My favorite thing about Summer was being able to wear flip flops! Sadly, I can no longer wear them – my age is catching up with me! So, I decided on the next best thing was…making them! Aren’t these just adorable! I could stare at them for hours!

When I got the hankering…I did a google search for a free flip flop printable. BEWARE! There are computer pirates out there! I ended up on one of those sites that wanted take my computer hostage! So…I am going to share this safe link with you for the pattern I found and used after my initial scare: just click here. Computer pirates, hackers, malware monsters…they all get my ire up – I may have to stamp all day just to feel better! lol!

For your convenience I have posted the supplies used in creating these adorable flip flops. Clicking on any of the images will take you to my 24/7 online store where you can pick up the supplies you need to create your own flip flop fun. Thanks for stopping by!

Stepping Up a Simple One Layer Card With Flourishing Phrases

Simple one layer cards are quick, easy, and fabulous. They are perfect for people who have just started their stamping journey and don’t have a lot of supplies. However, just adding one layer can really step up a card so I usually recommend that you purchase a coordinating card stock and ink so you can do this simple step-up in your card making.

This card uses four inks but you could get by with three. Your card would just not have the subtle depth created by the shading of the flower petals using a sponge dauber and a deeper shade of ink.

Here is the card with a layer of coordinating card stock added to it:

If you are new to stamping (and even if you are not) I created this card on Facebook Live and you can view the video there:

This is a perfect stamp set to add to a starter kit.  It gives you plenty of sentiments to go with the images. Just about every occasion except for birthdays are covered! Our starter kit is only $99 and right now through the end of June you get to add two additional stamp sets of your choice to your starter kit for FREE!

Woodsy Fabulous Flora Handmade Card

Fabulous Flora and Timeless Textures were just meant to go together! To see another beautiful card that I created using these two sets, click here!

I am so thrilled that the Woodland Folder was brought back! I loved it in last year’s Holiday Catalog and now I can use it all year long! I used it to create a subtle hint of texture and trees peeking out from the background on this pretty card.

The Very Vanilla Lace Trim gives this card a feminine look. All it takes is leaving off the lace trim and you instantly have a masculine card making this design very versatile!

Fabulous Flora is a Host Stampin’ Rewards set. There are only a few more days left in the month of June to earn extra Host Stampin’ Rewards!

Simple Wow Card With Flourishing Phrases

Arrgh! I had a light bulb burn out in my light box! I have a replacement, I just couldn’t get the bulb out. I will have to recruit my hubby’s help!

I created this simple but gorgeous card yesterday evening. Simple, beautiful, and fast! This stamp set is a must have for creating those quick, but beautiful cards that all we busy procrastinators need! (I’m assuming that I am in good company here…)

My purpose was to help out my downline and send her some ideas and then I thought – this is such a good idea – I need to do this on Facebook Live! Check out the video (plus you can see that the card is not yellow, ha!) Hey, like my page while you are there, too, pretty please?

So Many Stamps, So Little Time

Sometimes you just need a quick card without a lot of fuss! When I held my Birthday Blooms classes we did two rather complicated cards and I knew I was going to need a quick and easy card for the sake of time. This was the result.

I used Timeless Textures to color my Birthday Blooms. There is a hint of shimmer on the rose petals with Wink of Stella clear, and Dazzling Details was still in play because this class was in May (why they would retire Dazzling Details is beyond the scope of my imagination, I had to stock up!), so we used a touch of that on 3 of the larger spatters and dotted it on the stamen. There is also a hint of the Mint Macaron lace which is now retired…but if you are lucky enough to have some in your stash…it is a great addition to the card!

Some of you may wonder why I used both Stella and Dazzling Details – well the Dazzling Details also gives a bit of texture – so it looks different!

This was all stamped on Shimmery White, too! I wish you could really see all that in the photo. Someday, when I grow up, I am gonna be a photographer…meanwhile….back in my playroom (er, stamp room) this was all done monochromatic with Mint Macaron. I simply love that color, I can’t help myself!

Dainty Drapes with Birthday Blooms

Good morning! I don’t have a lot of time to be chatty – I have to be on the road in an hour to get over to Waverly, Iowa today for my Swirly Bird Bundle class – I am so excited – it is going to be awesome! I just know that everyone will totally love the cards! (I totally love the cards! lol!)

Speaking of classes, this is a card from my Birthday Blooms May classes. Everyone loved learning how to do this dainty drapery fold. I don’t always advertise techniques or ideas that will be in class…I don’t always know what they will be that far in advance! I may be a planner, and quite frankly, can plan things to death…but I also create my best works under pressure (which is a nice way of describing my procrastination skills, ha!)

If you haven’t been to a class yet – you should join us – I have some of the most wonderful peoples in my classes and we have a great time!

The pretty designer series paper on this card is retired, but this card can be easily recreated with some of our new designer series paper. I bet it would look awesome in the new Night of Navy paper from the Floral Boutique Suite! I will have to give it a go and share it!

Okay – I have to roll! For your convenience I have listed most of the supplies used in the creation of this card and thrown in a few new suggestions! Clicking on any of the images will take you to my 24/7 online store where you can pull these awesome items off the shelf and throw them in your cart and check out! Will This Pretty Handmade Card be Making your Mailbox Smile?

My new catalog launches have been over for awhile and I am trying to get all my Thank You cards stamped up and in the post for those who placed orders while trying to prepare for my Swirly Bird class, and get about 50 swaps done before the end of the month. I could have put more stuff in there – but I wanted you to be able to catch your breath!

My husband accused me of scheduling every moment a couple of weeks ago – that is somewhat true – I just hate being bored!

I have finally taken the plunge into Facebook Live and I stamped this card live on Facebook for you! I haven’t quite gotten to the point where I am scheduling my live events and announcing them. For now they are rather impromptu because if I wait to have it all planned out – it may never happen. I am somewhat of a perfectionist so I can plan something to death. To be honest, this learning it as I go along with you all watching me is very un-Darla like – so be nice and send me lots of love!

If you haven’t yet liked my page you can do so now and check out my video while you are there!

I Have Some Big News to Share!

I am just quivering with excitement! New catalog, new stamps, and now this! For those of you who don’t know what this means and why I think it is such a big deal, here is the scoop!

On Stage is a different name for Convention. On Stage is slightly different than our old conventions in that there is a live event and then there are local events scattered around in various locations that the live event is streamed to.

A Display Stamper creates display board samples – using never before seen product! Um – no – I won’t be able to share any sneak peeks – I signed a confidentiality agreement! However, I will be able to share the projects with you later, after the event is over – so that will be fun!

Here is an excerpt from my acceptance letter:

Your samples will be some of the first projects that demonstrators see using new products, so please do your best work. You were selected to create these samples based on the quality of the artwork you have submitted to us or that we have seen. We trust that the samples you create with the new products will display the same high quality.

So, you see, I feel totally honored to have been selected to be a display stamper!

Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing in my little celebration and exciting news!

Fabulous Flora Shimmers in Peekaboo Peach!

I don’t know for sure if these are poppies – but that’s what they reminded me of! Did you know that not all poppies are red? It’s true! I did a little research just because I am the curious sort and have a great interest in horticulture. A little known factoid about me: I have taken a Master Gardner’s Class! The timing was bad because it was just before we moved and I was unable to do all the volunteer hours to maintain MG status – but I plan to do it again after I feel more settled!

This post was inspired by Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays – Week 148. I took the poppies and the hint of orange in the daisies, grew a little in my knowledge of poppies with a little research, and had a whole lot of fun #creatingstampinupfun!

Even if poppies were only in red…I still would have chosen to go with Peekaboo Peach highlighted in Calypso Coral. I love Calypso Coral and Peekaboo Peach pairs with it so nicely! This card is bright and cheerful and even though it has several layers, it is still a very easy card!

Fabulous Flora is a Host Stampin’ Reward – but it is so easy to earn! All you need is a $150 order, workshop, or online party all of which are very doable! Plus, in the month of June, you can earn extra Stampin’ Rewards! Click to learn more and see another great project with this set!

For your convenience, I have posted most of the supplies that I used creating this card below. Clicking on any of the images will take you to my 24/7 online store where you can place your order for your Host Stampin’ Reward. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Happy Flag Day!

This is a fun card that I made for my Swirly Bird/Scribbles June Class display board. It’s one of those perfect cards! Simple, clean, easy to do and looks great! I actually had the 4th of July in mind when I made this card…but it’s Flag Day now…and maybe I will come up with another fun card by the 4th of July! I am really looking forward to my Swirly Bird/Scribbles classes in June and July! This stamp set and coordinating dies are so much fun to work with! If you haven’t signed up for one of the classes, sign up now!

For your convenience, most of the supplies that I used in creating this card are listed below. Clicking on any of the images below will take you to my 24/7 online store where you can purchase this awesome bundle! (I just used the dies on this card – but you definitely want to get the bundle!) Top Five Benefits of Attending Classes

Some of you may be wondering why I would blog about the Top Five Benefits of Attending Classes. As someone who loves learning and teaches classes regularly this is a subject that is near and dear to my heart and not just because it helps to provide me with an income! So here are my top five:

  1. How else do we get better at what we do? Learning hones us and sharpens our craft.
  2. Valuable feedback, tips, ideas, and help from others in the class.
  3. Helps us make new friends and develop relationships which enriches our social life.
  4. Real, practical, and hands on use of the tools and techniques.
  5. Motivation, inspiration and retention We learn better from other people and we also remember it better!
The best thing about the top five is that it is also true for the instructor! My students motivate me to come up with more ideas. I learn as much from them, if not more, than they learn from me. I also get to make new friends and develop relationships when someone new attends class. It’s really a win win for everyone!
This card was a card that we created in a recent class. The picture really does not show all the dimension and sparkle that this card has. Everyone loved the card and the technique. Sign up for classes to learn tips, techniques, create beautiful cards, and make new friends! Thank you so much for stopping by!
