Season of Cheer Grows Poinsettias

In this pretty card I framed the Season of Cheer designer series paper in an oval. I added some texture to the frame with a textured impressions embossing folder and then added a little Gold Glitz Dazzling Details to highlight some of the texture. I added a merry little message with the Christmas Greetings thinlits! Products used in the making of this card are listed below! A Merry Season of Cheer

Today we have flipped our basic sketch so that our designer series paper is at the bottom of the card instead of the top! Tomorrow we will do one more card with the Season of Cheer designer series paper…but we won’t be using the basic sketch. Our little series changing up a basic sketch that focuses on making up 9 cards from one sheet of designer series paper ends with our merry little card below! I hope this series has given you some ideas on how to fit making handmaade cards into your busy holiday season!

Season of Cheer Makes One Jolly!

We started this series back here. The Holidays can be stressful with so much to do and we all can’t (wink) be Martha Stewart! We are using a simple basic sketch that we have modified slightly each time and used different papers from the Season of Cheer designer series paper along with different embellishments to change the look slightly. Here is the completed card to go along with our sketch today.

I love the Christmas Greeting Thinlits and the Foil Papers; they are perfect for this sketch! It “steps it up” and still keeps it simple! Our new Fine Tip Glue is a must have for small detail glueing!

Paper, Ribbon, and Ink!

We are still working with the same basic card sketch that we started with a week or so ago! Sometimes we just complicate things. Don’t get me wrong; I love making more complicated cards too. But it isn’t necessary to out-do yourself with every card you make! Just sit down and enjoy the uncomplicated process of some paper, ribbon, and ink!

A Season of Cheer and Snow!

In this modified sketch, we have reduced the footprint of the focal point to a small accent piece, but it still draws the eye in. I love the contrast of the dark and light background that the snowflakes are floating in on this background paper. The White Glitter Ribbon adds the illusion of real snow glittering at the bottom. The metal rim around the pearl makes it stand out. A simple, but beautiful, card.

Season of Cheer is Time for Tinsel & Snow

This card sketch is a slight modification from our sketch yesterday. Any image could be in place of the tree as long as the scale was right! With our Season of Cheer designer series paper and chosen embellishments, our card with the holly design looks like this:

If you look closely there is a little detail on the tree created with a textured impressions folder. Using texture folders on your punched images just adds a little more interest to your card. Season of Cheer and Peace

Card sketches are helpful tools when you don’t have the time to design a layout. You can just take the design/layout and plug in your elements to create a quick card. Over the next few days we will be using some form of this basic card sketch for our Christmas cards made with the Season of Cheer designer series paper. Using this sketch is a practical matter when using 12×12 background paper; you are able to get 9 cards per sheet! This design is also quick and easy which is important if you don’t have a lot of time to spend creating your cards during the busy Holiday season! Your base cards is 5 1/2″ high by 4 1/4″ wide. There is a 5 1/4″ high by 4″ wide layer of Whisper White card stock and then a 4″ high by 3 3/4″ wide piece of background paper. These will be our basic measurements and the only things changing going forward will be the paper, slight changes to the layout, and different embellishments. Gold is in this Holiday season so we just pulled our color from the designer series paper and embellished in gold!

The New Precision Base Plate

The new Precision Base Plate is a great addition to your arsenal of Big Shot tools if you love using detailed thinlits! It is designed to help all those details get a nice even cut. I like using wax paper as a layer over the card stock between the thinlit with mine to get them to dislodge from the thinlit easier. Here is a video from Stampin’ Up! showing how to use the new Precision Base Plate:

Shannon used the new Delicate Ornament Thinlits Dies in her presentation. This set of dies actually contains Thinlits and Framelits. The Thinlits are the dies with all the details. The Framelits are the open dies. Framelits are best used with the Magnetic Platform; the reason being that Framelits are designed to cut around your stamped images and the Magnetic Platform keeps the Framelits in place around your stamped image. To purchase the new Precision Base Plate click the Shop Now tab at the top of the page!

Happy stamping!
